This class is specifically designed for the application of the modern-day Chaplain and is a part of the core classes required for completion of the Grace Core Chaplaincy training program.
Survey of the Old Testament, with a specific concentration on the Pentateuch, historical context, and the Messianic themes.
Even though this class is an introduction, we will move quickly, in order to cover all of the material required. Concepts are sometimes difficult to understand. Therefore, class engagement is essential for gaining a comprehensive understanding of the writings of the patriarchs, the prophets and scribes.
Goals:
Introduction to the study of the Old Testament
Application of the authenticity of Mosses and his writings to understanding the NT
The student will come away with an understanding of the historical context of the OT. The student will be exposed to the writers and editors of the OT. As a class, we will also explore the concepts and events which led to the formation of Christian theology and doctrines.
